As a small child, living in The Bronx, Susan would spend hours on the fire escapes, bravely climbing up and down.  Her mother breathed a sigh of relief when they moved to Long Island and left the fire escapes behind.

Obituary:                    Herbert Hawkins

"It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of both Sue and Herb.  I worked with Sue until retirement.  Although I have not seen Sue in many years, I will remember our time together fondly.  I will miss her and think of her always as a friend.  Rest in peace, Sue and Herb."

"As I sit here waiting to say good bye, I have to wonder, why oh why? We were best of friends, I am heartbroken it had to end. You are in a better place now, free of pain, I will never forget you, my dearest friend, until someday,we meet again. Love you Sues!"

"I have wonderful memories of my Aunt Sue. She was such an important part of my life when I was growing up, and I am thankful for that time. She showed me what it meant to be spunky even before I knew what that word meant. My dad and her are together now with their folks.  I miss them all."
